Make Earth’s agriculture
run on life again.

We go deep on the biology: the chemistry of the soil, the one enzyme that throttles photosynthesis, the bacteria a root can farm for nitrogen. But the science is only the start. Getting a living product manufactured in each market, priced against a bag of urea, and trusted by a farmer who has grown the same way for thirty years is just as hard. We work on the whole chain.

“Life begins in the soil. When the soil is alive, everything that grows from it does better. The food, the farm, and the people who tend it.”

This is the idea behind everything we make. We are not decorating a product with it. We are trying to prove it, season after season, on real fields.

The problems

Come work on the hardest problems in agriculture today.

The science is only part of it. The hard problems run the length of the value chain, from a single enzyme in a leaf to a factory in a new market to a farmer deciding whether to change how they have always grown. We work on all of it.

Model an entire plant

A crop runs thousands of coupled reactions at once, across soil, root, and leaf. We are building a model that predicts how a plant responds to a change before it happens. No one has done this at the resolution we are after.

Relieve the photosynthesis bottleneck

Cytochrome b₆f is the most iron-rich complex in a leaf, and it sets the speed limit on the whole electron chain. Loosen that limit and you raise the ceiling on yield. It is one of the levers we work on directly.

Make plants farm their own nitrogen

Roots can strip nutrients straight from the bacteria they capture. We are learning to turn that up, so a crop leans less on synthetic fertilizer and the soil grows richer instead of poorer.

Manufacture biologicals in every market

A living product has to be made close to the farmers who use it. Building fermentation and manufacturing that scales domestically in each market, at a price that beats a bag of urea, is a supply-chain and process problem as deep as any in the lab.

Make regenerative the default way to farm

Most of the region still farms on synthetic inputs. Moving millions of farmers to regenerative practice as the normal way to grow, and teaching biologicals well enough that the change sticks, is a problem of trust, education, and patience more than chemistry.

Design a product a farmer will actually adopt

Five hundred million smallholders buy on this season's numbers. A biological only matters if it fits their crop, their context, and their math: cheaper, safer, and more trusted than the input they already know. Getting that design right is its own hard problem.

Who thrives here

We hire for the things that can’t be taught.

No agriculture background? Neither did most of us. For the science, we won’t pretend it’s easy. The work is rigorous, but you won’t learn it alone. We invest deeply, and here drive compounds into real expertise faster than you’d expect.

In every other role, you won’t be handed a lane and told to stay in it. You’ll own real problems, ship real improvements, and take them to scale, because the company is still being built and there’s more to do than we have people for.

Either way, what we’re really looking for can’t be taught. So that’s what we hire for.

Ownership

You take something messy and see it all the way through, instead of handing it off half-finished.

Intuition

You make good calls before all the facts are in.

Trust

You are honest and straight, especially when it costs you something.

Intelligence

You think things through from the ground up, and you pick up a new field fast.

The team

One team, spread across a few countries.

Our headquarters is in Chiang Mai and we make our products in Lamphun. The rest of us work from Bangkok and from India, across Thailand, India, Indonesia, and Singapore, with more countries coming soon. A few roles are remote, but most are in person at one of our offices. Still small enough that you’d know everyone.

How hiring works here

A different kind of application.

We’re opening this up to more people than a résumé screen ever could, because the best person for this might not be the obvious one on paper.

  1. 1

    Tell us who you are

A few real questions about your life and work, your résumé, and the salary range you're looking for. No cover letter, no busywork.

  2. 2

    We read every one

A real person on our team reads your application, not a keyword filter. We're looking for the person a résumé can't show.

  3. 3

    Then, a real case study

If it's a fit, we'll invite you to work on a genuine Living Roots problem. What you make is the interview, not a whiteboard puzzle.
