Trials & Agronomy Manager

About Living Roots
Living Roots is an emerging regenerative agriculture company based in Thailand. We design and manufacture high-performance biological and mineral-based fertilizers using AI, fermentation, and soil biology. Our mission: help farmers grow more with less, restore their soils, and create a resilient agricultural future across Asia.
The role
We're looking for a bold and passionate Trials Manager to design, execute, and scale our product trials across Thailand and Southeast Asia. This is not agronomy-as-usual: it's a chance to build the scientific foundation for a regenerative revolution, from rice and sugarcane to durian and beyond. You'll lead our product testing across farms, coordinating with dozens of growers, research partners, and internal product teams, and work with our AI tool, Hypha, to help make fertilizer recommendations and help farmers transition toward regenerative agriculture. This role is ideal for someone equally at home in muddy boots and structured datasets. If you've read something by Gabe Brown, John Kempf, or Carol Sanford and thought “yes, that's the direction I want to go”, we'd love to meet you.
The person we're looking for
Takes ownership
You take an ambiguous thing and carry it all the way to done, making the calls that move it forward.
Challenges the norm
You question the status quo and look for the better answer instead of the expected one.
Communicates clearly
You articulate ideas simply and collaborate well across a distributed team.
Writes excellent English
Clear written English is essential in our multicultural, multi-country team.
Learns relentlessly
You are curious and adapt fast to new tools, methods, and a new domain.
Gives and takes critique
You are open to feedback and offer it constructively, so the work gets better and trust grows.
Cares about the mission
You genuinely want to see agriculture run on life again, not just take a job.
What you'll do
- Design & lead field trials: plan and execute scientifically valid, crop-specific trials to evaluate Living Roots BioNutrient products.
- Work with farmers & partners: build deep relationships with growers across rice, sugarcane, durian, and a range of horticultural and field crops.
- Travel extensively: from Isaan to Chiang Mai to Malaysia, you'll go where the crops grow.
- Analyze and report: collect field data, track yield and plant-health outcomes, and generate actionable learnings.
- Collaborate across teams: interface with product R&D, microbial production, and AI teams to translate trial results into product evolution.
- Grow the trials program: build trial protocols, documentation, and processes that scale with our ambitions.
Requirements
- 3+ years agronomic or crop-science experience (on-farm, in trials, or related R&D roles).
- Strong communication skills in both Thai and English (you'll work with Thai growers daily).
- Strong knowledge of tropical crops, especially rice, sugarcane, and durian, working across dozens of crops.
- Field-ready: comfortable in varied environments, from conventional farms to remote organic systems.
- Proven ability to run structured trials and interpret results.
- A regenerative mindset: interested in soil health, microbial interactions, and systems change.
- Willingness to travel across Thailand and Southeast Asia.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, early-stage environment.
Nice to have
- Background in regenerative, organic, or biological agriculture.
- A builder who wants to co-create the future of agriculture.
- A listener and learner, with growers, with data, and with nature.
- Not afraid to get your hands dirty or question industry dogma.
Why join
- Shape the frontier of regenerative agriculture in Asia.
- Work with an ambitious, purpose-driven team.
- Join a company where science, nature, and human potential meet.
- Have your work directly impact farmer livelihoods and ecological health.
What we offer
- Equity package at a fast-growing startup in Southeast Asia
